Frank & Mr Trumpy

Yes, new arrivals at PP HQ!

Any ideas?
This is a blog connected to an award-winning handmade craft & gift business remember, so surely Frank & Mr Trumpy are new paint colours, some sort of newly designed item or similar?

Urm... no.

We'd like to proudly present the newest members of the PP Team:
Frank!

And the rather shy Mr Trumpy!

Obviously these gorgeous newbies belong to Master PP, and are not for grown ups to coo over and play with (all morning).

Welcome to your new home Frank & Mr Trumpy!

What? Oh we know we are big kids! But they are just sooo adorable!

The Gallery - The Weekend!

We are big fans of the Gallery as run by Tara Cain on Sticky Fingers but so far haven't actually managed to get anything together and posted in time!!

Here is a snippet of our typical weekend at PP HQ! The youngest member of our team, released from nursery, dons his apron (then takes it off when no-one is looking!), and sets to work. Master PP has some very definite ideas about what he thinks we should make next and loves borrowing (pinching) the paint samples to show us grown-ups how it's really done.

So our weekend - being given art lessons by a four year old :)

To see more entries into this week's "The Weekend" themed gallery pop over to Sticky Fingers - The Gallery.

Strange Gifts!

What is the strangest gift you ever been given? Choosing a present for someone isn't always easy and sometimes the results can be interesting to say the least!
We know someone who was given a hamster (by her Mother-in-Law) instead of chocolate for Easter. Sounds a little odd but when you consider she was a grown married woman, didn't yet have children, and was NOT an animal lover it was just bizarre!

Talking to friends of Precious Parcels some of the best / strangest gifts have included a hair removal kit (from another Mother-in-Law actually!), a coat made from bin bags (obviously we aren't appreciating the high fashion value of this one), "The Hamster" and a book on how to clean your home properly.
We are sure there are much more interesting, strange and downright weird presents out there, hiding in the back of the wardrobe, and we'd love to hear about them!

Treating yourself.

If you are anything like us, when it comes to having a bit of extra cash in your pocket you automatically spend it on the kids, the husband/partner, or something very functional! (How many of you are nodding?). Why not, just for a change, treat yourself to something? PreciousParcels has some lovely items for the home, not at all practical (with the exception of the key and towel holders!), but attractive and things that are just lovely and to be enjoyed.

Here are some of our favourite home items:
Ideal for keys, tea towels, hand towels, aprons, shopping lists....
These are handpainted so can be customised to suit your home - Just £9.95.

We love this country look plaque! Priced at £12.95.

These are just simply lovely! With four different colours to choose from, these make beautiful home accessories £7.95

A touch of decadence! These personalised blocks are simple and just a little different. Prices starting from £10.50

Or, why not treat yourself to something completely custom made? Our most favourite recent custom order was for a 2-tier plaque, painted to match a bathroom’s decor that read “If You Sprinkle When You Tinkle, Please Be Sweet & Wipe The Seat”. A reminder for teenage sons!!

At just £1.95 delivery, regardless of the size of the order, you can afford to think of yourself for once and get something YOU want!

It's Wedding Season Again!!

The wedding season!

How many invites do you have pinned to the noticeboard? As with all such events, it gets that much harder over time to find something new and different to give as a present. More and more couples now go for wedding gift lists but many still like to give a little something that is personal to the happy couple and at Precious Parcels we have plenty to choose from!
Our top wedding present item at the moment is this:

These gorgeous personalised plates, at just £19.95 are a lovely keepsake for a newly wed couple, and the fresh and timeless design means it won't look "dated" in a couple of years!

Here at PP we don't just cater for the guests though!
We have a fantastic range of personalised plaques for bridesmaids and pageboys, flower girls and special guests. The beauty of these plaques is that they can say whatever you need them to. Custom orders are always welcome.

Our favourite selling item for the weddings themselves are these gorgeous favours!

Completely bespoke these beautiful favours can be designed to fit in with the style and theme of the big day. From unique personalised name places to Bride & Groom remembrance keepsakes, they really should be at the top of the wedding planner's list!
To discuss bespoke wedding orders email us here.

Behind The Scenes!

Reading the comments on this week's (my first!) Silent Sunday post, made me realise just how lucky we are! "Fun", "..a good time" and "messy!" were all mentioned in the replies and that pretty much sums up the day here!

After our initial success (which of course hasn't gone to our collective heads) we thought we'd give everyone a bit more of an insight into PP HQ and what we get up to!

Run with the precision of a military operation, this is the organised hub of the whole empire.

Organised chaos! Yup, this is where production begins. The eagle-eyed amongst you will spot the large glass on the desk. You can decide what fills it during the busiest periods!

It's all very technical you know! No time for screwing around.. (Terrible joke, apologies!)

Ah, Mr FedEx, we know him well. Being a home run empire, he has been greeted with wet hair, saggy tracksuit bottoms, and on one memorable occasion just a towel. Sorry Mr FedEx.

Glue has never been used to stick the youngest member of the PP HQ household to a chair. He is too fast...!

Surrounded! Just a selection of the hundreds of items that are lovingly created here each week before winging their way to their new owners

It's all in the detail! Here at PP HQ we pride ourselves on a perfect finish. We wouldn't buy something that didn't look quite right, so we don't see why you should?!

After spending a year eating pizza after pizza we finally realised that you can buy these clock boxes wholesale. Phew - there really are only so many stuffed crust ham & pineapple pizzas a person can eat!

A large part of the day is spent packing, labelling and sending off. We are very careful in making sure everything is protected against the rough of tumble of the postal system.

What you can't see are the other 5 bags ready to go, I don't relish having to drag these back to the delivery depot!

And last but not least......

When all is said and done, there is no long tiring journey home, it's tools down - grab a drink and out into the garden to relax!

So there you have it... a glimpse into the world of Precious Parcels, fun, messy, busy and definitely never dull!

What's In a Name?

Here at PP HQ, because a lot of our items are personalised, we literally see hundreds of names each week. There have been some unusual ones, but generally these are beautiful because they are a bit different and we haven't had anything through that has made us think "Woah!" because it's well, a bit strange. The baby naming game seems to be very much in the media nowadays with couples choosing more and more unusual names. Is it the new vogue?

From Apple, Bluebell Madonna, Fifi Trixibell, Sage Moon Blood and the like, to Brooklyn for the Beckhams - are these "out there" names going to come back and bite our children down the road? At the end of the day parents can call their children what they like, and as adults anyone really not liking their name can change it by deed poll. However, should we be thinking more about the effect a name can have during childhood? I'm not sure Fifi Trixibell would have gone down well at our local primary school - but perhaps celebrity kids are more "sheltered" or used to things being different?

There was an uproar recently when an Israeli couple named their child after the Facebook "Like" button, and apparently an Egyptian couple went all out and actually named their daughter "Facebook" earlier this year. Is this a step too far? We aren't sure! A name is so important as it is personal to you, but we think it's more important who you are than what you are called.

What do you think?

Father's Day - How Do You Spend Yours?

What does Father’s Day mean to you? Is it about off the shelf gifts or is it something more personal? Here at PP Blog HQ, Father’s Day is a chance for the kids to say “Daddy... You Rock!”. It’s about recognising all the things Daddy does, the rolling down the hill at the park even though it’s muddy, it’s making the best Lego creation EVER, it’s giving horsey rides, using silly nicknames, knowing all the words to all the silly songs. It’s wiping away tears, putting plasters on the hurts, telling adventure stories to help forget the hurts and always being ready with a cuddle.

That’s what Father’s Day is all about. It’s personal, it’s special and it’s just around the corner! (Sunday 19th June).

We love these personalised gifts, something long-lasting that says “You are great” which Daddy’s can proudly display and which can be lovely keepsakes for down the road.

So what do you do on Father’s Day? Do you have a special family tradition? Does Daddy get to stay in bed all day? How does Father’s Day work for you?

We at PP Headquarters would love to know what you do to celebrate Father's Day, so why not tell us about it below?

Don't forget to visit our For Him page for some lovely personalised gifts and ideas.... and remember than custom orders, if you have something slightly different in mind, are always welcome!! After all, all Daddy's are different!

The PP blog is back in business!

The past year has been amazing, we've relaunched, have had some fantastic competitions, offers and new products and here on the blog we've... oh! Ok, the blog has been somewhat ignored but that is all about to change! Keep your eyes peeled for the new and improved Precious Parcels blog. There will of course be PP news and events but also a variety of different posts about family matters and more.

We'd love to see the readers getting involved so if there is anything you’d particularly like to see, let us know by leaving a comment below!

In the meantime – check out some of the fantastic new products that have hit the shelves since our relaunch!
Personalised Plates - £19.95 (10 designs to choose from)
Personalised Blocks (From £10.50)
Home Sweet Home Cushions £6.95
Personalised Bunting from £8.25

Don't forget that P&P is £1.95 regardless of the size of the order. I hate paying excessive postage and packaging myself so I don't see why my customers should have to!

Have a good look around the "new" site and keep your eyes on the blog. There will be lots of new and interesting (I hope!) things to read and view over the coming months!
