Summer holiday essentials

With the weather being as lovely as it has been recently who can blame a person for thinking about their summer holidays?! We always remember our sun cream, to get our legs waxed (or not), to book the kennel for the dogs, to get our holiday reading material but we always forget something! That something in my case is usually the postcards for sending to friends and family.

Whether your summer holiday is taking you the fair reaches of some deserted and tropical island or to a caravan by the beautiful UK coastline, it's always nice to drop those at home a note to say you are having a fab time and that you wish they were with you. Kids especially love to send and receive postcards.

We have several cards and postcards which are ideal for taking with you on holiday so that you can spend more time enjoying your rest and relaxation and less time trooping around the gift shops.

These fantastic postcards, which are printed on 300gsm card and measure 10.5cm x 15cm, are just 95p and come with envelopes.

To view these and the rest of the stationery range visit the cards section on the website. Whether you are away for the day or taking a couple of weeks to sun yourself, be prepared and add a couple of these to your basket the next time you stock up on birthday gifts, items for the home or just a treat for someone special.

The Gallery - Picture Postcard

George, Maggi and I have thoroughly enjoyed exploring the local area on walks and of course Bailey (my camera) always tags along. We captured this on an early morning dog walk and I thought it would fit "Picture Postcard" perfectly!

Our Top Five Crafty and Creative Sites (May)

As you know, we have a competition running at the moment to win a £50 Precious Parcels voucher which is easy to enter as all you need to do is email me a picture of someone getting creative. There is more on this here.

Seeing as getting creative is our main topic this month we wanted to share a few of our favourite creative websites!

  1. First up has to be this fantastic blog from RedTedArt. Packed with art and craft projects, how-to posts and more, there is something for every day and all abilities. George loves this site and we regularly visit for project inspiration, especially on rainy days (and we've had plenty). For all things crafty, do have a nosy!
  2. For art materials, this month we have to give a shout out to the Early Learning Centre (ELC). There are sometimes cheaper art supply alternatives but the paints, crayons and basically everything else we've had from ELC has been great quality, long lasting and not as expensive as I thought they would be. It is definitely worth a visit, either online or instore to stock up.
  3. George adores Disney Junior and they have a load of free printables to colour and stick all over the fridge so you can't find your shopping list.... (this is my excuse for buying pretty much the whole of Sainsburys every time I visit!). The site is definitely worth checking out.
  4. Activity Village is another resource site we hit regularly, we love the mask tutorials on at the moment! Great fun inexpensive craft fun, you can't ask for more than that.
  5. And last but not least..... Nurture Store. This is yet another fab site for craft projects, recipes, and both indoor fun and out . The site is regularly updated so there is no risk of running out of ideas!

Here are our top five - have you used any of them? We'd love to hear your recommendations!

Yes, it's safe to say that George has always enjoyed messy arty crafty fun!

We have an exciting competition running between now and the end of the month. The prize is a £50 voucher to spend on anything you like on Precious Parcels. To win all you have to do is email me a photo that falls under the category of "Get creative!".

Here is a sneaky peak of some of our fab entries...

Here are two very cute little ones getting creative and having messy fun!

We have to ask though where are the messy boys? I have a boy so I know just how messy he can get when being creative and having fun so come on and lets see some more arty fellas (big or little!).

Personalised colours to suit all!

Children have very specific ideas about just about everything (my young man knows exactly what he likes and what he doesn't!). When it comes to decorating a room and making it their own it is great that they can be a part of the decision making process and can often help choose colours.

I have just started on the "Make George's Room A Big Boys Room" mission and George has chosen green. he loves it because it is his and he has had a hand in it (I'm quite pleased with it too). Next up will be new GEORGE giant letters in green (or maybe Dino?)

See the website for more combinations and price information.

The giant letters have been very popular and not least because they come in a wide variety of colours to suit individual characters and rooms. For those who are too young to choose Mum & Dad have much more than the usual blue and pink available to use to personalise a room.

These giant letters can be used for names or indeed any wording. They are approximately 20cm high and start at just £4.95 per letter. Whether the younger family members are choosing or whether you are in charge, you now have the choice of colours to create exactly what you want.
